Well, for some reason down through the years, I missed the book...

One of many on my "to read" list too.

The nearest I ever got to something that combined [a tiny bit of philosophy] with mechanics was way back when I was in my early 20s and a mate sold me his falling to bits VW Beetle for £50 [my first ever car –sniff!] and threw in a copy of John Muir's "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive..." 'Compleat Idiot' book.

I remember opening it at a random page and seeing something like "Before you start this job, tie back your long hair..." alongside some nifty cartoons –and I thought "This is pretty cool!".
