Hello,

What VW parts books were available circa 1952-53? Was the a comprehensive parts book available in German or English for the Beetle or Transporter?

I'm curious as the '53 Porsche parts book I have skips a lot of the parts needed for the car, referencing instead to find them in the VW parts book, as they are identical.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
James

Here's the '53 Bus parts book:
http://oacdp.com/5054part.html
It's pretty comprehensive.

There is a '51 Bus parts book too but it's really thin.

There are some Beetle ones too, I assume they are fairly complete:

You'll want to key eye out in the literature section of the classifieds as such parts books (or copies thereof) will occasionally turn up there. Prices range from $ 100 to $ 300 depending on condition, originality, and (of course) the seller.

The '52 Beetle parts book was available bi-lingual German & English. I have a PDF if you need info from it, it's in two parts Groups 1-7 & Groups 8-0 +SP

Thanks rod_vw! I wil PM you.

And Brezelmeister, nothing specific at the moment, but the specs on the whole suspension system would be nice to have detailed info on. The pre-A Porsche shares the same suspension with the 1952 and earlier VWs - the 90mm travel shocks and everything. So it would be nice to have documentation of that.

Many thanks.

Everett should have a copy of the 1952 parts book winging its war through the ether. Hopefully he will make that available to you all soon via this website.
