True that. The seller has a ton of stuff, lots of it desirable but its all overpriced. Funding retirement? |
As I told my wife last night---"I might as well sell this stuff at a lower price, so you don't have to carry it to the dumpster after the funeral". |

Had I known that you felt that way about it, I would've made you a lowball offer on that sweet uber-rare vintage Karmann Ghia toy that you had listed here for sale recently.
(... then it would've been up to my family to throw it in the dumpster after I die.)
Oh well, as it turned out one of the more knowledgable players here in the Ghia forum recognized what you had and snatched it up right quick at your full price anyway.
Between all your "Senoir Discounts"and "Early Bird Specials", you and your future widow will be eating well for another few weeks now at least! |

They may not throw all your VW stuff away once your bucket kicks. They will probably sell it for what you told her you paid for it. Not too bad for Iowegian, he bought all his stuff in the 70's  |
My Ghia (and all the spare parts I have) will survive after I drive off into the distant unknown because I have poisoned my granddaughter's mind so much that she wants it for her "university car".
Coolest car on campus, she says, and she's not even in middle school yet. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

An NOS Autostick transmission for $2,200?
Heck, you could buy this whole Volkswagen for that same price! |

My "University" car was a 66 ghia, Porsche Gaurds Red, lowered on 14 inch early Porsche alloys, 1750 cc with Kadron carbs. Best VW i ever owned. Can confirm, the granddaughter will be the most popular girl in school!! _________________ GhiaBuild

What are the odds - my "university" car was also a 1966 Karmann Ghia.
... only mine was a bone stock Manilla Yellow coupe with a mere 29k OG miles on it.
I ran for almost 2 years after buying it in 1983 on the original Continental tires, and only replaced them when I discovered that the reason one went flat was because I literally wore a hole in the rubber. |

I know these are special but at that price both front and rear perfectly chromed or genuine NOS, maybe. But not that piece of oxide.
A 356 is looking cheaper to restore that a lowlight

That's more then I paid for my entire and mostly complete 56 project car. Since a nicely and accurately resorted lowlight tops out at what, $50 or $60k? Who would spend more than 10 percent of its value on a set of crusty ass bumpers? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I”m not too long as a member of Samba, but I have observed a pattern over the 3-4 months since I’ve been following the posted ads for Ghias ( and perhaps it is true for the other ads as well):
Most of the ads recycle over and over, and other than the “WTB” ads, the
Prices for cars never seem to get $ lowered. This leads me to believe that the sellers are either not serious about selling, or speculating that someone will be naive enough to pay the asking $ price even for Ghias that require untold major work and $ expense.
There are over 220 listings, and less than 10% are “new”,and even fewer advertise a lowered price.
Not judging, just wondering why? |
