|

I have found a lot of info on paint colors and the factory painting process, but not on the type of paint used.
I am guessing that they would have used lacquer or most likely some type of acrylic enamel. My paint color is L20B bright orange.
I was also wondering how today's catalyzed acrylic enamels compared with factory paint in term of durability.
I find acrylic enamel very forgiving to work with but was considering going with urethane as it is more durable. Thanks for the help. |

From another thread but don't know if it answers your question

Glasurit "Glasso & Glassomax" was the factory choice paint manufacturer for Porsche and Volkswagen starting in the 1950's. The product line was an "autolack", lacquer solvent base. |
