Hi I am new to this site and I have recently purchased a sand rail, the transaxle is a bus 3 rib the flanges are a little loose and the seals are leaking but the biggest problem is My buggy is making a clunking noise in the drive train. Light throttle little noise, heavy throttle loud noise kind of like a one spot in the rotation and makes a clunk, clunk noise. Both axle flanges move up and down and the seals are leaking lightly. What should I look for as a problem?

Diff is moving inside the case, check and replace the bearings and check the ring and pinion for wear.

Is there a retainer that holds the bearing in place?
Thanks!

I recommend a complete rebuild...it only cost me 400 to redo my 3 rib but most of my internals where in good condition. ..sounds like you might need some internal parts on yours. ..or it could just be bad bearings, either way I wish you the best of luck Confused
