Found and purchased this 56 yesterday. It's a real euro car. KM speedo, German dealer plate on side, has a headlight switch on the column just opposite the turn signal switch that I have never seen. Previous owner purchased in 1991 pulled it into his garage and put up on jackstands and started it every 4 - 6 weeks and the car never moved for 27 years.

Nice find! Congratulations on the acqusition of your new Karmann Ghia, and welcome to the forum.

What are your plans for the car - enjoy it as is, "sympathetic refresh", retoration or somethiing completely different? (Baja prerunner, or kit car base perhaps? Wink )

Great find! Reminds me of my car, when I found it years ago. It had also a white paintjob on the outside and a black dashboard.

Not sure this the correct Forum or thread, but ebay showing ‘58 Low Lite from Florida today.
Numbers matching, complete history, but usual suspects look rusty, and car has been repainted...

heading to my house in Florida Keys, saw this in Islamorada. Needs a bit of work, not bad from 10-20'. had the classic Bud Light floorpan patch and some dodgy engine compartment bodywork, and the typical non-Sambanista inverted decklid seal!

While driving southbound on I-95 south of Downtown Jacksonville on Sunday 4-22-19, I spotted a pre 1970 Ghia Cabriolet body mounted to a dolly on the back/bed of a pick-up truck. It looked like it had just been media blasted and appeared to be in very good shape. If this is you, let us know if you have a build thread.

I recently found this 1961 pampas green coupe which still shows some of its OG paint. The previous owner lives in Arizona and had owned it for 35 years. My plan is to do a stock restoration. It's kind of an unusual color, I'm guessing there weren't too many built with this color scheme.

That’s awesome Lisa! Will you start your own thread for it?

Thank you! It might be another year or two before I start on this one. I'm trying to finish my 1958 Bernina cabriolet that's been on the back burner. The body is just about done. I hope to have it in paint sometime this Summer.

This 72 was nosed into the woods about a quarter mile off the road. A friend saw it and let me know. Three of us spent an afternoon freeing up a stuck rear wheel and towing her home. It was sitting for 7 years in this location but the engine turns and the body has not as much rust as I would expect. Interior is shot. It had a lot of ants and rodent nests in it...but no snakes, I hate snakes. First stop was a car wash.

The front corner on that first one is super hammered, damn!

It looked like it had a 57 or earlier steering wheel on it?

1st, Great finds and Video. The 1st one is pretty early. Note the rear decklid.
Very worthwhile for parts at the very least. The glare on the driver window keeps me from seeing where the front heat vents are Crying or Very sad
