So, stupidly, I sold my S40 T4 manual after it apparently broke something in the head for $750 USD. It was easily fixed by the NO. Anyway, it was one of my dream cars for reasons and I proceeded to buy another dream car a couple of days later like you do, for the exact same $750. Enter my new 1980 Volkswagen. I’m calling it “La Naranja Mecánica”, which is Kubrick’s Orange Clockwork ñame in Spanish. The literal translation is The Mechanic Orange, so it works wonders in Spanish.

After picking it up, it immediately left us stranded. My girlfriend was pissed off but me and ya friend were optimistic. I missed work but the old man who sold it to me kindly came to help and traced the problem to a leaky fuel line that was sucking air.

Here it is as bought by me.

We made it all right 50 km back to our neighborhood, but we did lose my girlfriend on the way back after we broke down again and she left in her own ‘90 Bug. We pushed got pushed started by a nice fella in a green Tsubame and were on our way again.

I charged the battery the day after and painted the car a racing scheme with a black rattle can, like one does, not long after a friend of mine vandalized the poor thing with her name on the hood.

I’m gonna try and order all the pics in an album, I’m sharing Facebook because photo bucket no longer works as it used too.
