Oops!

RockStock is right, mats will fit a 56 and the correct color for Pelican Red is Gray GY.

Cheers!

What would the proper color be for a Pelican Red '56? Also, it is a VIN: 1110457, which is an early '56 so would the kit fit?

Feb '56? Yours should look like this.. Black mats, 1/2 carpet/rubber on the bulkhead. Heater vents will be in different position to later cars.
My parts manual says full bulkhead rubber introduced from VIN 1154228.

Early Ghias had the heather vents in a different position, please post or send me a picture that shows the vents, thank you!

This is my early '56 and the vents are near the pedals. I have a late '56 VIN: 1292247 ghia that will need the other configuration with vents near the door.

@lajs57 count me in for my early '56 a LL7-BK/BN and I will have to kludge together the bulkhead mats. For my late '56, I will take a LL8-BK/BN.

Anyone have ideas on how to do an early '56 bulkhead?

Update:
My 56 was a very orginal car when found interior wise, and the PO who disassembled saved much of the interior for patterns, including this mat which came with the car.
It makes sense that for Savannah Beige cars that the mats would be black and not brown since VW seldom used mats of the same color as the upholstery. Anyway, it would appear I would need gray mats and not brown.

I believe that the floor mats in a '56-'57(early style interior) were always black, the bulkhead, sill and tunnel mats were different colour.

In '58-'59 (later style interior) all the mats were one colour.

Also '56-'57 floor mats are different to '58-'59 mats, they are not pebbled around the edges.

Original mats in a '57, grey bulkhead etc, black floor mats.

lajs57. Updated my needs but you have probably missed that on me. My order is:

LL8-BN x 2

Aerosilver. The pebble edges seem to be another story. Different manufacturers maybe? My may 59 have flat edges and are the original (brown ones) mats for the car.
Fisco = flat edges
Phoenix = pebble finnish edges...?

Cheers/Jonas

Could be Jonas, what make are yours?
All the early mats I’ve seen have been Fisco, later ones Phoenix.
More lowlight mysteries 😁

Answers to latest posts:

Braukuche - Updated request to Gray. Thank you for the pictures!

aerosilver - Great information, thank you! Based in your research some cars had black floor mats. If any one wants Black floor mats in their request, I can accommodate that, just make sure to let me know.

It also looks that there were mats without the pebble pattern. The mats I will reproduce will have the pebble pattern.

Burman - Request updated

52 deelux - Added

boinkffd - I will accommodate your request when the campaign is official

009sunshine - confirmed
