Excited for the nicer weather - seems a bit better all the time
The winter updates have gone well!
New Brakes, wheels, and tires.
Wipers totally replaced and working == finally
Just did the 300 mile rebuilt engine oil change - running better than ever.
And, the new secret bumper plan is revealed:
Hmmm... wonder if this will fit?
Disassembly and mock-up...
New bumper is stronger, thicker, and lower - I like it License plate on bumper and removed chrome beak enhances the lowering affect.
Can you guess what car it's from _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

Also found period-correct, "Vashon" Dixco gauges.
They are not hooked up, but my radio needs repair, so they are hanging out in that spot in the meantime

No guesses on my bumper
Fine...here's the original source of my new front bumper.
Kinda amazing how well it fits...

I have always thought that the type 3 shares a lot of similarities with the amazone. The bumper looks good on your car! |

Looks great. Are you going to do the rear so that you can be all matchie matchie? _________________ I think he meant "rare", as in "not well-done" |

Not sure on the rear. I have some ideas but the Amazon rear just doesn't look as good to me on the back for some reason-- maybe?
Might re-work/ build a new tailgate this summer and that's when I'll decide. _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

Because I can never leave well enough alone...
Here's the 'Flake Roof Repaint project of 2018
First, gotta spend a few hours carefully masking (hate this part)
Don't forget to remove trim, etc.
Finally...we get to paint : I used Lil Daddy Roth sytem - base, flake, clear.
Peel it and Bake it the hot July sun:
Not easy to see the *SPARKLE* in photos- but it's cool in person
Then- recover the roof panel in black:
RE-install DeLuxe Bus trim and rubber insert - what a giant pain
Done

Thank you, much appreciated! Yes a very busy year but a very good one. Once I graduate and start field training I'll have a little more free time but with the baby here I'll probably be spending that time away from the garage for a little while but that's ok. If it isn't making noise this year, it will next year for sure! |

Getting ready for the Vintage Meet tomorrow in Seattle
Ran a few errands and picked out some ART to donate to the raffle tomorrow- Very Limited prints and Toys (made and signed by me )
Come say "hi" tomorrow in the Type 3 section and if you own a Type 3 (or just REALLY like them) I'll give you one of those "Poetry in Motion" prints for free _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

I know I post this every couple years in your thread but...
That mold you made for the Type 3 Invasion is still one of my favorite Type 3 pieces in my display case.
MAKE MORE!

Thanks-
I've learned a lot about casting techniques and I always have several plans in mind! I have a few prototypes even, but not quite sure on production at this point...
Hope tomorrow re-ignites some excitement. Giving stuff away is just as fun as selling stuff sometimes _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |
