I have just a few issues I need to sort out before this car becomes my daily.

First issue is the brake lights- the running lights act as brake applied lights and when the brake pedal is depressed the lights dim to what should be running light brightness. Any help with this would be amazing.

Second issue is that I installed my distributor 180* off when building the motor. It is a 1600 dual port with a 009 dizzy. To be clear the firing order is supposed to be 1432 with 1 at the 5 o clock notch but that is now cylinder 3. What is the best way to make this right? The dizzy drive shaft was a B!TC4 to install and if my memory serves me correctly was too much heartache to set right when I put it together (and discovered my mistake) before my last detachment. I have an electronic ignition kit with a new rotor and cap that I would like to install but want all this made right at the same time. Please help guide me.

Third is an operator error I am almost sure but I grind the tranny shifting into second gear. Am I missing the right speed or rpm to shift into this gear? It shifts great into the other gears. What am I doing wrong?

Usually when using a 009 the firing order on the cap is 90 deg out anyways. I would rotate the motor to tdc on #1 by using the crank pulley and watching the valves on #1 then pop the cap off the distributor, where the rotor is pointing is your new #1 plug wire. The grinding could be lots of things but make sure you have about an inch of play in the pedal before it gets hard, also check your shift rod bushings and maybe you need to adjust your shifter.

Switch your black and gray wires under the tail light reflectors. That should solve your light issue.
