Your van is soo cool ....I'm jealous. ...wish I had one too....don't give up on the restoration. ..it will be over welming at times. ...in the end it will be worth the effort! _________________ Never be a follower...Do your own thing, make it your own! |

Yup. People always underestimate how much work rebuilding a vehicle is especially if they havent done it before. Its a TON of work but when youre done theres nothing better than sitting back and looking at something you've built. There are moments of absolute anger, frustration, boredom, monotony, BUT you soon forget them when you're driving
Im looking at the 2 last projects i have, my '68 Ghia and my Bounty Hunter buggy and wondering if i have what it takes to see them through. Perhaps ill take a break after the race car is done and go play with my trains in the basement.

If your van indeed has 'Tip-In Stumble' due to faulty accelorator pump, then just be sure the carb kit you get includes a new plunger with a good flexible diaphram. It's the rightmost part in the clip below from your earlier post. What often happens when a vehicle sits undriven is that gas evaporates from the carb, leaving the diaphram to dry out, become brittle, and then crack just enough that it no longer plunges enough gas.

I think that might have been what happened, I have yet to go through the entire film that I did but when I do release it he might have described what was the problem...
At the moment I'm at a standstill looking for a proper kit for my carb. My carb is
But.... I don't see a matching carb kit here on

Ah! Thanks I was able to find it on Jbugs, It's 10 dollars cheaper and it looks like it has all the same parts. _________________ Proud owner of a VW Phoenix Van

VW PHOENIX UPDATE:
I've bought the bushing and carb kit. I'm looking at tune up kits and really would like a suggestion on a good one for my van. I want to get her worthy from a trip from Gary, Indiana to Miami... What do y'all suggest I get next? _________________ Proud owner of a VW Phoenix Van

Hey I get shooting for the stars and that the price is most likely for attention but even past that most buyers want a little more of a description than...
"The VW Phoenix Van, Featured in the movie Total Recall and Popular Mechanics Magazine"
First off was the van for sale in the movie (and documents to back it up) or is it just another that was built from plans? What about some really good pictures of the van? _________________ www.fiberclassics.org |

Oh good grief...
Was in over her head even before she went to see the van. Guess the carburetor couldn't be figured out... but I think it's more to drive viewers to her YouTube channel.. |
