I’m in the process of reupholstering my front seats before I do my headliner (figured I would tackle a quasi easier project before doing the dreaded headliner) I have a problem though with detaching the top backrest from the bottom. The nut that locks onto the pin is rusted on. I tried pb blaster and a vise grip has nowhere to hold onto, so the pin keeps spinning around. Help me Tom Cruise!

Can you grab that Bolt head with vise grips? The one on the opposite side of where the nut is?
If not, got a welder? _________________ Jimbo

The pin is flat on the other side, so a vise grip keep sliding off. I am running out of daylight tonight and will try to give it a go again tomorrow |

I thought you may have enough to grab onto it, but I am over here and not there. No welder? _________________ Jimbo

Use a hammer and a cold chisel to just knock the head off. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

yeah, that bolt should not be spinning- that round pin head on the inside should be welded to the frame. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

I will try again tomorrow to see if I can get something to clamp onto it and use the socket wrench on the other side. In the meantime, here’s my completed backseat
