|
|
I'm sure someone out there has installed a convertible top on there late model Super and gotten their parts from Chucks. I ordered mine last summer when I had some extra cash and set it aside until I could get to it. Well I am about to start and either I forgot to order Chucks instruction book or they forgot to ship it. I called Chuck in an attempt to obtain the instructions and he basically told me I was S.O.L. He didn't have any and the factory will not ship just the instructions. I can find the early Super top replacement all over the place but none for the 73-79 and they are different
If anyone one has these instructions I am willing to buy them. I have never replaced a convertible top before and I am told Chuck has a very good booklet.
Thanks for taking the time

Just a bump guys Are you sure you don't want to get rid of those old Chucks instructions???? I'm willing to buy photo copies or even a down loadable file....................Think about it. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670629&highlight= |

I'd call Chuck's again and talk to him. You or Chuck should have records showing that you did buy the top kit from him. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Yesterday I had to contact Chucks again trying to track another order ( yes I ordered more parts from him). In the email I pleaded again for the instructions. He got back to me and verified my latest order.( it had not showed up on my Chucks account yet) More importantly he said he would try to get the convertible top instructions to me. We shall see how this works out . All the good things I have read about his shop from all you guys I want to believe he can help me. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670629&highlight= |

I ordered my parts from him about 2 years ago. He was great to work with. Very suprised with what you are going thru.
If I can remember right, those manuals were available for purchase and not always included in sale. I don’t think I purchased them with my top parts since I was having someone else do the work.
I will look tonight for my records and see if I have anything. |

Thanks 79bugman So nice of you to look ! I'm hoping this is not the end of this and he gets the book to me . It may be that he's swamped with spring almost on us and everyone trying to get Convertibles done. I may have forgotten to order it( it was last Aug) but I do remember asking the gentleman that took my order if there was anything else I needed and he made suggestions and I ordered them. Oh well doo-doo does happen _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670629&highlight= |

My faith in Chucks Convertible Shop is restored. My last order from Chuck included his instruction manual. . I just spent some time going through it and I feel it's the best I have seen. And since I started this post I have looked at a lot of them. Chucks manual is full of helpful hints and measurements that a rookie like me absolutely needs and most of the other did not have
In the week or so I will update my build forum with the results _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=670629&highlight= |
