What did you do for your Bus today?

I didn't notice the striker plate had adjustment available until I got to it. Worked with bolt adjustment only, thanks easy e for a future tip. I also added the license plate frame. Now to locate the lamp in the garage and order the hatch hinge gaskets. Ordering tuneup parts this week too. Sorry the bus is so filthy.

I finally nutted up and started a pile of things to go to the powder coater-
I started with a couple these guys:

I did the usual hammering and straightening first, the following Kombisutra's perfect instructions- I have two clean '67-up MC notches and all my fingers. I used the air tools pictured and the handy garbage bins are a perfect working height. I did cut those a cm. wider and taller than instructed to be safe.
These pans and a couple of gas tank panel dividers should make laying on my back under things a little easier on the eyes.

Once upon a time you could drive on a dirt path to under the bridge, leave your bus unlocked with the keys in it, and surf right there.

Removed the 2276 from the Dormy 'cause it's become an oil leaker of the worst kind! However, before taking it apart yet again for the umpteenth time, I stripped it, washed it, then fired it up on the stand so it WILL show me just where the hell it is leaking at!

Anyway, here's my testing stand conptraption:

Here's the main culprit in that from here the fan housing would blow it all over the place and make it hard to figure out where the leaks were.

The fan housing had wore out the pedestal so much that the oil pressure had pushed out the seal just enough to let oil seep out and then get blown out by the fan. You can't really notice from the pix but with the engine running it would blow little bubbles out of it.


This next pix shows a leak comming from the cylinder stud on the #4 where case pressure pushed out just enough oil to contribute to the massIVe leakage making a royal mess of it all.

Also found just a bit of oil seeping out of the main stud nuts on the case itself! If you look closer, there's a drop of oil right under the nut. A bit here and a bit there, before you know it it's leaking all over the place! So I had to address that too.

Just finished firing it up again and it at least looks like it isn't leaking at them points any more.

Now to slap it all together again and putting it in the dormy again, either today or tomorrow. Hopefully drier than before!

I didn't do this today. I did this about a two years ago? Maybe a year and a half? I wanted to see if it'd hold up before posting.

I can't throw anything away if I think I can salvage it. Maybe I'm channeling my inner hippie or more likely... my inner cheap bastard. I jest.

So I cut up a bunch of old commercial interior door panels that were mangled or partially trashed... cut in new pieces in sort of a dove tail fashion... backs are then glued with old discarded interior vinyl. Anyhow... I repurposed the $h!T out of this junk and have been quite pleased with myself. Thrilled this has lasted the two years through a couple severe hot and then wet seasons.

What did you use to back it, and what adhesive or is it a butt joint? Always nice to see a salvage

I painted the fuel compartment area of my 65 DC. Have been putting this off because I knew it would be a royal pain to get in there as it is a tight fit and hard to ventilate. First Velvet Green paint I have applied since purchasing it about 28 years ago.
