After seaching for a while the most i found on the front to back adjustment of a front door was shims or a supposed tool body shops should have. I need to adjust a door rearwards so shims dont help. A little help? |

The body shop tool actually does wonders for doors. If yours is sagging (lifts up when it hits the striker), it just needs to be bent back up. _________________ 1986 Canadian Syncro Westy TDI - 1989 Syncro Single Cab - 2001 Audi S4 - 1981 VW Caddy ABA - 1980 VW Caddy EV - 1973 VW T-181 |

there's 2 bolts in elongated holes at both hinges. Loosen them up & the door will drop from it's own weight. To raise it back up, I use an awl in the slot at the hinge when the bolts are slightly loose. You may need to play with it a little |

The door in question is too far forward. Washers or shims between hinge plate and jamb would move further forward. Theres no sag in the rear and vertical adjument in slotted holes is not needed. The reason for bad fit may be that the door came off a donor although both are from 87 vans. The gap at the front is 3/16 and the rear is more like a fat 3/8. I can get it to function fine just looks like crap. |

So now 3 years later what was your solution for this being too far forward?
My drivers side is a bit too forward to seal at the top rear and in the middle of the forward side of the wheel arch. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
