Has anyone tried or know if you can use a pointed bumper to make a slashed bumper. I have 2 pointed rear truck bumpers and I need a slashed rear truck bumper. But as of now no luck finding one. I was wondering if I could cut off the ends and weld on slashed ends from a slashed rear bus bumper to make a slashed rear truck bumper.

i will take one of those pointed rear bumpers off your hands if you want
it has to be decent but not perfect
oh and i do not need the overriders, you can keep them
PM me if interested |
OK I will buy the overriders. PM me if interested. _________________ Kevin

When I got a 65 it had no back bumper. I found a pea shooter cut crappy slash bumper in a junkyard and hung it on the bus. Later I found a nice straight pointy deluxe (no trim, but had screw holes for trim) rear and put that on. At the time I though 65 was slash slash, but then I realised maybe it was correct for it to be slash f, pointy rear, that 65 was a mixed year. Anyway, it looked a ton better than the icky cut slash one.
What year is your bus?
Just run what you have till you find what you want.
If anyone points out it's wrong, tell them you're looking and will trade for the one you want. |

I know it probably does not help- but cutting up a bumper used for 2-1/2 years or so to fix one available new through dealerships for several decades makes little sense to me- regardless of good vs. hammered sections.
There are folks here who would love to repair a pointed bumper- and likely give you fully roadworthy slashie in trade. At least put your points on the classifieds if you do the crazy step of chopping and discarding them. _________________

If this link doesn't go to the right page, it's p16. At the bottom, this guy did what you're talking about with a repro slash to pointed using some bay window ends. Looks like the same profile to me, even with the bay ends. _________________ I'm at the age were "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions. |

As far as I know they are the same profile and everything except for the ends.
I talked to a guy in the past who made a pointed out of a slash and he didn't mention anything except for changing out the slash ends.
I agree with the above though... it's way harder to find a pointy rear, you could probably trade _________________ How to Post Photos
