That Bug Tech shifter looks pretty bad ass. I have an EMPI, which some may not like. I like it a lot, I have the same adjustment issues I did with a stock shifter, but the EMPI does shit better than my stock one did.
This Bug Tech looks different than all shifters I've seen. Are they offering screws on the sides for fine tuning adjustments? So you mount it, it's set, then you do your adjustments on those screws? If so that's pretty damn cool. I'd like to find one! I haven't seen them listed anywhere online other than overseas. |
They are made in Germany by Marcus, but his US rep is a close friend of mine in GA http://dtmengineering.com/Bug-Tech_Shifters.php They are fully adjustable. The screws you see are for reverse adjustments. Mine are fine from factory setting with 3000 miles now. Setting the depth of shift ball in shift rod can take some time. |
Is the shift pattern the same as stock, e.g., reverse is left, push down, and back? I can't tell from the video how reverse works.
Thanks!

Yes, the pattern is the same. Reverse works by overcoming the spring tension on the bar that rides next to the shifter on passenger side. You can adjust the pressure to suit how you put it in reverse. You don't push down, just push left towards you (in left hand drive T2's anyway) and then back. _________________ SPL

My sloppy shifter is a theft-deterring device. That's my line and I'm sticking to it. |

Personally, not a huge fan of that style, I like how the VintageSpeed ones are stock style looking, same reason I got their exhaust... But in my bus, I don't mind the stock shifter, my bug will probably get a VintageSpeed... _________________ -Adam

Fancy-dancy shifters are like fashionable clothes and hair-dos. They're cool and make perfect sense at the moment... but when you look back... they're out of fashion & you're like... "What was I thinking?" Stock-ish / simple is cool... Berg, etc...
Example: bell bottoms, lamb chops, victorian corsets... yikes)

Well, that's a vivid analogy...too bad I'll never have those hips with or without the corset hahaha. _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

I’m running an OG vintage Hurst shifter. It’s really solid, shifts great and so good that empi copied it for their design (allegedly)
