Would anyone know if any year/model VW has the same steering wheel/steering shaft spline as the 914—early or later model? Would the steering wheels interchange?

A nice Moto Lita steering wheel and boss came on a 914 steering shaft that I recently picked up but it looks as though the boss was literally hammered onto the shaft and took a lot of hammering to get it off. The spines were similar, but maybe not exact. Just wondering if any of the VWs and 914s actually shared a spline size and count? Thanks—
