Then I pulled a bit both jugs so that you can see as much of the inside as possible

Note that the oil you can see on the picture is the one I put today before I move the jugs

When I came back to take the picture, the sticky oil had restarted to “glue” piston and jug together although I had put oil 2 hours before

Well those heads do look like they haven't been run after some serious work, I wonder who did that?, any invoices?

I'm unimpressed by how shiny the cylinder bores are though, if they went to the trouble of doing the heads why not refresh the rings at least while they were in there? and after 2 head pulls are the cylinder bases going to leak oil profusely after being disturbed?
Were there any sealing rings in the heads where the cylinders meet them?

Will ask for invoice to know who it and what exactly was done
Previous owner said the piston and jugs where replaced but not so sure
Haven’t seen any sealing ring at the junction .... what should they look like ?

No ring is a good sign, at least whoever did the work was paying attention to the bulletin regarding deleting the rings.

answer from the seller
"it was a cash deal with an independant guy in Delaware
He was very thorough and I remember spinning the crank by hand"

honestly I trust him since he has been the nicest guy in the world all the way through the transaction
and I strongly believe the sticky mixture only is dried cold oil

will have to open the other head and do the same thing and see if this is sufficient to make it spin
will load some oil in the engine too

As I'm out of country for 2 weeks I hope it will be warmer when I'm back. should help
but any good idea still welcomed

opened both head, oiled the cylinder , everything turns fine
closed it back and made a small mistake....
lost 1 week to replance a bolt that I destroyed

should be all done this week end

now working on the exhaust and heater box... I don't have any of it and need to buy the full thing.... but this is where I'm thinking maybe swithching to the 72-74 setup which is slightly simpler

also ordered new disk, caliper, and pads since the old ones where old and blocked

I opened then down to the last piece cleaned them but still rusty and not giving me enough confidence... I figured I rather change the full thing while everything is out

new tie rod on both side too... I tried to make them the same size than the orginal but I guess I will have to go through alignment anyway

disk and caliper should be arrived today so I know what to do this week end

last but nos least, I removed the metalic part of the dash to repaint it (and also to make some room for the coming repair of the winshield bay

it was a pain to access some of these bolts and nuts but glad to be over it now

after a long period where I had to managed a moving back to europe I have had the bus in a body shop to do all the rust repair that where needed

I received it back last november (yes covid situation here in france didn't help having the project progress a lot during 2020)

i can't find the screw /bolt used to fix the luggage box on the 4 metal pieces on the roof (not sure this is clear)
any Idea what I should use for this?

the question is actually double
