Here is the translation from there:
Place:
38458 Lower Saxony - Velpke
Creation Date:
03/10/2018
Reference:
826724024
type:
Spare & Repair Parts
00610
description
Offer original Type93 chassis. The red are remnants of the original color. On the torsion bars is still dark yellow under the red to see. The extensions of the structure, as well as the beech (!) Buffers are still original. Was long as a cattle trailer in use. I could not find a number anymore. I can send a copy of my offer. In addition, I can help if necessary with the drawings to reconstruct the lid.
Price is of course negotiable.
Swap like a good set of original 82er fender in the original paint.
Of course, no guarantee and warranty because private sale _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I grabbed all the pics earlier today via "Save As" for the whole page in Google Chrome.
This typically saves the entire web page and all possible images.
In this case it saved 3 different sizes of the images.
I posted them here since I kept only the largest version and all of them are larger than what is above, in case it helps further:

What an honor, one of my vehicles made it into the forum.
To your questions, its kind of both. It is an original typ93 trailer chassis, with added tubes for strengthening. The trailer itself is produced in Wolfsburg by Volkswagen in 1945.
Regarding the hitch. Hackjob postwar. It should look like this (also not perfetly original but closer :

Interesting design with the swing axles - I would have thought a stub axle would save metal, rubber boots etc when these things were hard to come by... |

Yes, but the axles keep the swing plates from flexing side to side, especially in the corners/curves. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

What type of support is in the centre where the axel tubes and shafts join is there a bearing there ? Also are they longer than a stock beetle or is the torsion tube assembly narrowed ?

The trailers are super rare.... i was thinking... ?
Yesterday I dragged one home, found in Belgium. Type 93 trailer from 45 -46 . Great score. Frame and suspension is 100% correct and confirmed by a well known german collector The upper part is not correct according to his knowledge as it is an open trailer. But have to find out if it is not a type 91 trailer... Picts follow later. Not sure what the plans are as to many projects. But for now.. it is safe at home. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

The trailers were designed for the postal services. They were painted in bright red and had a closed container on it. The lid could be opened on one side. The type 91 was a normal trailer with lower , open cargo box. The Reichspost trailer in original condition is in hands of Christian Grundmann. It is a restored example. The open box type 91 I have never seen. If they were sold to the public is not known and I think it was never don.

To show how the trailer should look, here is an example from Grundmann collection.

During the war, would think not since all production of such was controlled by the state that was putting all effort into winning the war.
After the war all sorts of stuff went on due to shortages of money and material. EG read somewhere that VW traded finished cars to get coal to keep the power plant going so they could make more beetles.
Heck during Heinz Nordhoff's first night at Wolfsburg. Nordhoff was put up in one of the workers houses that had other Nazi state built houses around. He was woken up by a ruckus raised by a neighbor catching a fellow stealing potatoes out of his garden. Thief was killed by the fellow who planted the garden... Those were desperate times for about ten years after the war and if a deal could bring in needed money or materials it was often done. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

so i am not the only Linux guy then. If you use Chrome or Opera on Linux you can just right click and save as to download images.
I use both browsers since they both work perfectly on Linux, Mac and Windows. They make windows suck less _________________ regards

Yesterday, I was able to find the serial number on the main beam.
The trailer has the chassisnumber 665. I am 100% sure it is the real deal now. No further plans for the moment. It goes in storage for now. _________________ Zelensis, glassfibre body made in Belgium , disigned and built on a VW platform About 25 body's built.

Would really like to find out how the axles are connected in the center of the trailer. So when you do get back to this project, please do add a lot more images to this thread!! _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
