Nope. These go in the doors to assist keeping the door seal in place. The edge of the seal is held in by the clip. The idea is to stop the seal curling in the crease behind the accent lines. one per door... i think.

Hmm, I think maybe it is the vent cables based on the little twist on one side. I know they are a pain to get to!

They are definitely cable stays.
They are all over the place in the trunk.
If the metal under the paint is brass, then they are for the door weather strip.
I knew where they came from, just not their purpose. |

Location of the door seal clips (if that is what you're about to ask):

These may not be for the Ghia, I've found some bug parts and some bus parts in these bins, but does anyone recognize these things?

They look like the rear quarter window hinge seals - slot into the chrome b pillar. |

The metric tape doesn't have markers at 12, 18 and 24, Darrel.

Trying to figure out passenger/driver side orientation for the door window trim. Is this correct? Also seems as though I am missing something.

Ok. So going by this picture, I guess I'm done (minus trimming the excess rubber). My 68 did not have the plastic piece.

Man, fitting those pieces (the rubber and the chrome trim) to ensure a proper fit has been the most frustrating part of the whole of the restoration of my '68 Ghia. _________________ Festina lente - hasten slowly

Right!? Trial and much error on my end... Then Darrel pipes up and makes me think I did it wrong. Hopefully a mallet will move the trim over a tad. We'll see. _________________ My 70 beetle was totaled Now to build the Ghia I always wanted. Rest in peace Ruby, I will miss you. Hello <insert Ghia name here>! |

Yeah, I should be ok... The rubber was trimmed properly (I think). The trim just needs to slide over a tad.

I unintentionally jumped to your post in the other thread and posted there, but here it is again.
New member here and I'm happy I just spent the time looking through this whole thread before posting myself. My gf just got a 69, and it runs fine, but I noticed this cable not attached to anything other than a lever.
[/img]
My issue though is that my engine is different. Still trying to figure out where the loose end attaches.

*** Update. A car friend texted me that we have an aftermarket air cleaner, so there is no oil bath air cleaner to attach it to. I guess it was left on there anyway by a previous mechanic. I hate loose cables. |
