Contact cements -- DAP "Weldwood" for brush-on type, and 3M "90" for spray-on type.

Yes for the Weldwood, has to be the "the original" for it passes the sniff test, the water based version for California weenies is not as good.

3M 90 is good but I have found Performance Products High-Temp Trim Adhesive to be as good even a tad better for less $$. Used 3M for years, the upholstery shop sells both, convinced me to give the Performance can a try, liked it a lot.

always loved the cars where the upholstery shop glued in the carpets with landau cement....and then you had to replace the main brake line...the cheap carpet shredded as you tried to pull it up

Almost as bad as people/shops that use Liquid Nails to put carpet in with.
