Keen to see how this Red colour looks on your Type 3's!
As im looking to get my Audi painted in this colour as this was the original factory colour.
It seems the Red it is now has faded lighter than the factory Konigsrot so your pics would be appreciated.
Here's what it looks like now:
im hoping the Darker Red suits it

Here is a quick progress pic:
Original L30a Kings Red in the Tail Light housing vs test paint on right guard:
Kings Red or Royal Red looks a lot darker than photos posted online im guessing it changes in the sunlight? |

Thanks Martin!
There was 2 reasons why i went for restoration:
I wanted it to go back to its original colour of Royal / Kings Red as the previous owner painted it a brighter red and the orginal paint was coming thru.
Also the rust was starting to creep up thru the rear of the car and the floor. Nothing serious but wanted to get it fixed before it got serious.
Most importantly i really love the Royal Red its funny it isnt a popular VW colour as sometimes it looks a very dark red. |

Happier days...
Even faded, it has a nice look to it. The only reason I've had any painting done was to cover for collision damage. _________________ My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

On that note, where ( if it's even possible) can I get the appropriate paint code for Royal Red in case I have to repaint? I've seen a great many reds, but none match up to the deep factory red. _________________ My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

My local PPG dealer can mix it in their "Omni" line. _________________ '69 Squareback restoration

Get them to mix up a "sample" size, then spray it out and bring it back for a prophet reading. That's what I did for my 64 T-34 Ghia in Sea Blue #2 so I could shoot it in PPG Concept paint. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago the paint place closed, and I have no idea what they did with the formula or the spray out mixing card they made (yes they spent some time getting it right).
I went that route because I wanted to paint it with good quality paint. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
