It cruises very sweetly at 90 mph, but the crazy cross winds near Mojave were pretty intense. Seeing semis at a 30 degree angle waving around was new to me. But Lone Pine is the tits.

356 in Death Valley. It rained! And was delightfully cool compared to the usual 107 degrees. Nice to have full 911 disk brakes and 150 hp for the elevation changes from sea level to 4,000 feet above.

Your replica looks similar to mine, which was built by Intermeccanica.
Here's a photo of mine.

Not sure why I just read all these pages of one of the strangest threads I have seen. Richard Rawlings taken to a whole different level. It's another holy grail car, as Richard would say.
Nice replica and trip so far. Been there and done that on my Harley. That was a little tougher than sitting in a seat and steering.... _________________ 1978 Super Beetle convertible

Nicely done kit. Would love to see more detail shots of the build. Helping a friend with a real B coupe build and then on to his real C cabrio. He has a Carrera coupe replica stashed away that may become a LSR comp car.

My old road buddy from 1970's road trips joins me for the last leg from Watertown to Belfast, Maine. PD or not, still a total road Visigoth. Friends since I was 2 years old, we drove the same roads we had driven so long ago in y 1956 356A 1600S. I made a few crazy passes just to remind him. Terrified? I asked: "Fuck no; I'm going to die soon anyway." Love you, buddy!
So great to see my wife and our Maine Coon cat. I finally know he loves me! And Amanda as well!
Odometer on arrival? 5,600 of course. Cheers dad, I did it for you.

Visigoth
a member of the branch of the Goths who invaded the Roman Empire between the 3rd and 5th centuries AD and ruled much of Spain until overthrown by the Moors in 711.
I am so confused. Is this a good thing or bad? Just wondering if this was a happy ending..... _________________ 1978 Super Beetle convertible
