My Euro 56 Standard has a strange problem where it steers ok for, say, center to half lock but then as you turn more it just gets tougher and eventually it won’t reach full lock.

I’m new to this so wondered if it was steering box related.

Any advice would be really gratefully received! Thank you

Lowered, narrowed, stock, etc? Maybe tires hitting headlight bucket.

Do you have the original worm and sector style steering box or a later worm and roller shaft steering box?

It could happen with either version but would probably be more consistent with the earlier style but most of the wear takes place in the center portion of the worm since that is where it is most of the time. If the center portion of the worm is worn and you tighten up the backlash of the steering box in the worn portion as you get to the un worn ends then it will get too tight.

I’m going to try and loosen things up and see if someone hasn’t tried to do as you suggest. If that is the case and there’s excess wear in there, is there such a thing as a way of overhauling a steering box?
