Hi all,
First time poster and brand new member. Looking forward to communicating with the group! So, we purchased a 74 Thing on eBay last night. Super excited.
It's in Opa Locka. Is there anyone in the area who would be willing to run and take a look at it for us before we fly out to get it? We are in Dallas. Or can anyone refer us to a shop that would be good at assessing one? I am willing to pay someone for their time. I really just want to be sure it doesn't have major issues with it. And mainly concerned with structural stuff, such as rust. Thanks in advance!

If you cannot find someone see if the owner will let you do it remotely via Skype or FaceTime; do ask him/her to park the car on ramps so you can check the undercarriage. Also ask for the car to be started COLD, and from then on just go through the checklist in the attached link

In past years I found qualified car inspectors advertising in Hemming s.
The ones I used were excellent.
Have digital pictures sent to you of the area under the battery, beneath the front of both front doors, the bottom of the windshield frame, all eight door hinges, and the lowest part of the front trunk. |
