My 70 bug will shift into 3rd and 4th gear but it is like it is in neutral. This problem happened at the same time after hearing a crunchy sound. Could this possibly be a linkage issue or should I go ahead and find someone to rebuild the transmission? |

Adjusting the linkage is free.
Try it first. _________________ Glenn

And check the shift rod bushing in the tunnel and the coupler under the cover under the rear seat. Checking those is free too. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70.
