I inherited this Sun diagnostic kit about 7yrs ago. It was working fine until this year. Timing strobe light doesn't have strong flash and tach-dwell doesn't read accurate RPM. Do you guys know where I can get repair or parts for this??? Many people told me to get new ones, but I just hate to throw away my old neighbor's tools. Thanks!

Nice piece of kit... worth restoring, in my view.
I used to replace the strobe tubes in my old unit (not Sun) with a part from Radio Shack (RIP), but you might find them on ebay or the web. Sometimes a frayed wire in the inductive pickup causes failure, too.
The tach is usually adjustable internally on those old analog units. Find a friend with a new digital and adjust the pot inside. Same for dwell. Mind the cylinders settings! |

Almost all dealer and repair shops have a Snap-On dealer that comes to them about once a week on a certain day and about the same time. Go to one of them and ask when their Snap-On rep. comes by and make the connection. |

No shit. I had no idea Sun was owned by Snap-On. Cool. _________________ **1971 Super Project

joey1320, I had deleted my post. had no idea that it posted. I, for some reason thought we were talking about Snap - on ( Probably because I was looking at a Snap-On analyzer today as well. Actually, for some reason if you look at some of my latest post for some reason it post twice, so when I deleted my post it only deleted one.
My apologies, Snap-On is not affiliated with Sun |

Heres something to consider, the better tool reps/ sales people know each other within a given area. My Snap-On man will take Mac, Cornwell, Proto, Matco, etc and has access to many other specialty tools. He also knows where to send tools for certification and calibration. So it may be as easy as just asking him for direction..... |
