So at about 180k, i went to start my van yesterday morning and found I had very fast cranking and no compression. I cranked it maybe a total of 3-4 times for a few seconds while trying to figure out what the issue was. after seeing serpentine belt spinning while assistant turning the key, seems only conclusion is that ive lost timing chain(s)/timing system ie worn sprocket, etc.

what do you think the odds are of having valve or piston damage due to VR6 being an interference engine, based with this short duration low RPM event without proper timing?

Gowesty states that a boroscope inspection via piston holes can be a good step to assess.

Anyone with any experience with this sort of failure at idle, and/or boroscoping cylinders to assess?

hoping that i can get away without replacing the head too.
