Top one. The rare SchwimBus option.

It's amazing that this country was still in ruins From WWII while this happening. My mother, who was bombed in WWII was sent to Germany just after the war, to meet with other children, so that the generation didn't see the Germans as the soldiers...very forward thinking.

The top photo I have seen before and I don't understand why it's in The barndoor line up forms and the picture third from the bottom are not Barndoor either ... just saying

EH? looks 100% barndoor to me... no wiper divots, bulkhead, seat pedestal, cab peak, rear shelf, mirror holes. Maybe you linked the wrong photo?

I believe he meant it hasn't been posted yet, it's new to the thread (topic)

I wonder if the Bus with no roof simply had no roof yet or it was something special

Embarassed makes total sense, I read it context with the post above about pics not on subject...

I thought the buses in the foreground look like they have been pulled of the production line (in the back ground) for various reasons, potentially as you say for modifications. Did they fit the Behr scoops at the factory? Nice to see a possible rhd bus in production too...

What does the writing in the headlight bucket signify? It looks like 'M5_' something...

It looks like M51 to me, in German number format
M51 = Provision for second generator

This doesn't seem like it fits that Bus to me so Maybe M51 meant something different for Barndoors at that time.

Central Warehouse on the Amsterdamseweg.

The parts ordered were collected in the Central Warehouse and placed in designated spaces made for each dealer. So it could be picked up by the relevant dealer.

In the picture Garage Crown from Arnham was there to collect their order."

The sunroofs have a tie bar spanning the sunroof opening, joining the two second from last skylights.

I wonder what this was for? Lifting? Rigidity?

I checked my deluxe. It has a corresponding paint pattern covering 3 sunroof rail screw holes at this point. Actually its a lack of paint. Looking again at the pictures, each end of the tie spreads out in a triangular shape. Corresponds to the 3 screwhole width on my roof. Guess it must have been for rigidity if they only used the small rail screws.

The paint is thin on my bus in this area. Im thinking the tie was installed throughout the paint process, so only got hit with primer/protective coat? No top coat? Or nothing at all?

Anyone with an original paint sunroof bus who can remove the sunroof rail, take a pic?

I wonder if that spot is the exact middle point for the weight of a bare deluxe shell?
It doesn't seem like the best lifting point, and I can't think of how a sunroof bus would need lifted in a different way than a non-sunroof bus.

Or maybe just for lifting the roof on to the body? There are roofs on the floor further back in the picture. They would have needed lifting somehow.
