The new name for hotrodded bugs? "Ass Weasels".
In context: "Dude, your ride is sick!!! That's a bad ass Ass Weasel!!!" |

And with that, someone from Florida destroys another thread. _________________

I don't know, but it doesn't work when trying to shame the fucktards into pulling their damned pants up. Just this morning I tried it with some idiot wearing faded pink jeans with 90% of his camo boxers showing. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

If they're too stupid to get their pants on right why would you think they are smart enough to understand nuance? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

You have it all wrong! The whole reason for the camo boxers is so that you can't see that his pants are falling off!
Reminds me of the truck hunters around here that drive around all day wearing camo gear in their trucks. That way the deer look at the truck driving by and say to each other "Don't worry about that truck, there is no one in it!"
Back to the subject at hand I am dissapointed that this thread is getting a bit ugly. How someone chooses to fix up an old car(or not)is up to them. I guess I'm just too old fashoned to appreciate this new trend. I just feel like it would be such a nice car if it were finished.
Just like that kid could look so good if he pulled up his pants, got a shave and hair cut and turned his hat around. Someone might even take him serious enough to give him a job!
Cheers from an old fart! |

I’m wondering if & when there will be a trend of returning all of these slammed, tucked, hacked, draggers, skidders, & low riders back to stock. Will prices of good original beams, spindles, & spring plates jump in price like good original wheels that were once tossed after they were replaced with some shiny new five or eight spoke alloys? I’ve already started seeing threads about returning cars to original. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

That may or may not happen in our lifetime but it would definitely be wise in my view to save all those original bits as it would broaden your chances of reselling the car. Let's face reality here, some day it will have to be sold whether by you or your kids after you are gone.
I like to follow my Father's philosophy. He was never against changing his cars so long as it was possible to go back to original if he changed his mind or it didn't work out. He almost put a Corvair engine in his '69 Bus at one point but changed his mind at the last minute and sold the engine because it would have taken some body hacking to make it work. Glad he did as I have the Bus now and it would be worth a lot less if he had gone ahead with that plan. |

I decided to only do only "classic" and temporary modifications to my 1960 bug, at first the idea being I would sell it some day.
12 years later, I don't think I will ever sell it.
Treating a car as if it wasn't your own..... may be a good habit. |

The type of bug described in this thread - beginning with patina, lowered/slammed, and usually with a roof rack (and safari windows help), I refer to in my own head as a 'Brooks,' and that's a compliment, as I think his oval is the best of that particular breed.
One more thing I'd have to add to make a car a 'Brooks' is that it needs to be structurally sound, with every system working properly. No rotted out PsOS. In my head, for a car to be referred to in this way is a high compliment. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it?
