My 55 has a later pan..as you know, if you try to use the 55 seats..they sit up too high in front...anybody have a close up pic of the 55 rails..I have the drivers rails out now and I'd like to cut 'em down in front but I don't know the dimension......or I could use later seats.... Sad

its hard to tell from the pic but the rail on the driver side closest to the door is raised higher than the rest of the rails.

You know I was checking out the pan on my '51 about a month ago and noticed the driver side outer rail was taller than the other three. At first I thought someone had done some pan modification and I was pissed. But after some research and 55 Bundt's reassurance I was positive it was correct. So what is the deal, why did VW make them this way? DId they do this so if the driver was "heavy" the seat wouldn't sag to the outside Very Happy? Also, does this mean right hand drive cars have the big seat rail on the right hand outside instead of the left.

Just curious

I need the drawing with the correct measurements of the correct position of the rails on the bench and on the floor. Would someone have to post here? Thank you !
