I bought a tachometer for my Karmann, it visually matches meters, but it has no VW markings.
Can anyone say what car comes from?
Diameter 70mm, length 90mm.

It's 6v... early Type III accessory tach is my guess.

Cars from several different manufacturers used VDO instruments. Hard to tell where that one might've come from unless you can find instruments that match it from a known make of car.

It's not Type 3, diameter is too small

Agree, could be for a specific car or could simply be a universal tach

- Exactly

- It seems to me that it is universal.

I will definitely go to my Karmann Ghia 1970.

I just need to convert from 6 to 12 volts, I already bought a suitable voltage stabilizer based on LM7806

And make a can with the mounting, I want to put this tachometer on top of the dashboard over the clocks. I wonder if the turner will make me a can of one piece of aluminum? We see ..

The diameter 70mm will be to big for the 1970 dash I´m afraid... unless you cut it Rolling Eyes .
The original hole (if you plan to put it in the "clock-hole") is 52mm.

I will not cut a hole, it will be over the dashboard.

Realization has been prolonged, but finally it is ready.
The tachometer was mounted in a casing made of an oil filter.
Voltage converter from 12 to 6 volts works without any problems. But the tachometer required the replacement of all capacitors, now it shows the correct speed.
Drilling holes for cables and assembly required removing the windshield, that's why I exchanged the cladding of the board and speaker grill.
The end result satisfies me, I'm curious about your opinions.

I like it. Looks cool and keeps the car theme, at least for those who know what an oil filter looks like. Laughing

I have a question, where did you get the Karmann Ghia speaker grill? I like it.
Thanks, Jeff

I designed myself in autocad, and gave it to the laser cut.
