I picked up this nice new fuel tap for my '50, I have 3 originals but all needed rebuilds so I decided to just get a complete new unit. Well I am a little concerned about the way the main fuel tap is formed. As you can see, the bend is crimped rather than formed, leaving the tube compressed and with a decent indent. Has anyone used these with no ill effects? I wonder how much this will impact fuel delivery if at all. The rest of the tap seems nice, minus the nylon reserve tube. Also, the main tube seems very long, should that be shortened somewhat? Thanks!

It should not be crimped like that.
The long pipe is pretty tall.
The short pipe is usually brass too, is that plastic?
It doesn't look like the right one for a '50.
A '50 one would be 8mm and have the fuel filter in the bottom of it.

I went ahead and installed it today, and will rebuild the originals to swap out later. I just want to be able to get it running this weekend. Thanks! |
