Replaced the rear body mount pads. Didnʻt cure the clunk, though- guess the spring plate bushings are next. _________________ Aloha,

My daughter and I had a great weekend for Vdubin. We put all new brake hoses, and a new master cylinder in the 67, vacuumed out the nasty in the floor, and rebuilt the carb. Now she runs, and stops. She is super excited to learn to drive in an acvw. _________________ It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

This weekend I removed my 1962 bug front bumper for some TLC.
Painted the all the brackets, replaced the four rubber grommets, sanded and then treated (rearside/inside?) of the bumper, replaced all nuts, bolts and washers.
One of the uprights chrome was peeling bad, and I had a better one from a swap meet, so I swapped those guys around.
Glad I took photos before hand, made reassembly easy.
I also Took the opportunity of straightening the RHS as the bumper was almost touching the guard. I moved it out about half an inch so now when I wash it my fingers wont get jammed.
Front looks fresh again!
While doing this work, the horn keep peeping at me through its cage, so I gave it some TLC too.
Next weekend, the rear! |

I finished the build and installation of my new engine and did the cam break in.
Drove the car to work three days this week.
It needs some tuning. But is very powerful. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I'm wondering if I can get some help on a question I'm sure has been asked, and after a search I still haven't found it, but I have my 67 Beetle, and I need new headlight buckets, retainers, and such hardware. I also have a 74 super that will not need them, so can I take the components from the super and install them onto the 67?
Otherwise I also need a new headlight switch, and front turn signals. That's all we've done for Opal the last few days, just make her more road worthy. She'll really need new tires before driving more than just around the block. _________________ It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Got it back from the paint and body shop and put the 010 on the engine.
Here's what the car looked like when I got it back but, with the knock off 009 on it.
This fall, all stock tinware will be going on it complete with flaps and thermostat. Collecting the parts for that now. |

Started some metal repair to Opal today. Right front wheel well near the rear and bottom was rusted through pretty bad. Or thing was sitting since 74 in Utah winters, so rust is a thing. But the slow process is bringing to get her all fixed up.
This was the damage after cutting all the bad metal out.
Here I shaped a new piece of sheet metal.
And after some welding, but not cleaning up, I got the patch in and some protection from the road so to prevent further rust.

Found and ordered a busted speedo for the 64 so I can get the stupid VIN verification done (needs an odometer.) _________________ No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow. |

I swapped the 2180 engine for the 1679 when the oil pressure light came on and would not go away in my 67.
Changed a broken throttle cable Thursday evening.
The hits just keep coming.
Put new tar boards in my buddies 66. The engine compartment looks nice and clean now. Also cleaned up some PO hack wiring jobs while the engine is out. Today I'll be changing the trans mounts for some nice new WW HD mounts.
After that, it's time for new compartment seals.
Tomorrow the 66 gets a new clutch PP and TO. Then the engine goes back in. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Took my 58 and 64 to the Stevenson Bug Blast
About a 220 mile round trip, both cars did really well. It’s the first time I’ve actually got to take both to a show at the same time. _________________ AKA 67dub |

After over 3 years my Oct 58 Euro Sunroof is nearly complete. Today I installed the seats, worked on the carburetors, put the floor mats and just stood back and admired how far the car has come. Now a quick trip back to the body shop to fix a few small items then to the alignment shop and finally I will be able to drive my VW!!
