I have a 1993 vw cabriolet. I am trying to source a part needed for my drum brakes that no parts stores have. In the Bentley manual, it is called the “adjusting bar” which is a metal bar that goes between the two shoes and sits right below the wheel cylinder and two springs are used to keep it in place. When i opened my project’s drum there was nothing but a busted wheel cylinder. If anyone has one or knows where to find one, let me know. Thanks
The part circled in green below is what I need

Good luck finding new. Craigslist? Ebay?
I'm not there, but the wedge that the small blue spring [runs perpendicular] attaches to is probably also missing. You'll need that [unless it's in your spring kit]. |

this is a link to the German mk1 cabriolet parts catalogue:
https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/catalogues/Golf1Cabrio-1984-1993/html5.html#/468
It's in German, but you can find the parts numbers and can start a search by those numbers.
171609819B left side
171609820B right side
If it's not available as a single part, it will be available within a pre-assembled break shoe set. _________________ 1966 Bus | 1969 Bug | 1976 Passat LX two-door | 1984 Golf 2 C (daily driver)

I hope they have found the part since this thread opened in May.
Maybe they converted to disc. That certainly would have been easier. |
