|

Doors fit perfect before body off and final paint, door pillars are sound, passenger side is perfect now but driver side opening seems high on the latch end. The door will shut but it rises up when it hits the striker.
When the body went back on I replaced all rubber with new. I read on here somewhere once about correcting the problem in my attached photo by replacing extra thick rubber washers on the rear driver side body mount with a thinner one. Has anyone tried this and had any luck?

Here is the article I read:
https://hotvws.com/content.php?contentID=73
So if I read this correctly taking out rubber spacer on drive side body mount and tightening down till door levels out? Rubber spacer in there now is about the distance I need to move the rear of the door opening down. _________________ I love this analog addition to my over digitzed life. |

The new one's I installed are really thick like this. I am thinking about replacing back mount with thinner rubber and a little thicker one in the front. What do you guys think? _________________ I love this analog addition to my over digitzed life. |

This gap is typical of when they were new, so I wouldn't worry about it. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

How did you bolt the body back on to the pan? The sequence of tightening can warp the body slightly. There was a procedure for adjusting a door like that, that involved loosening all the pan bolts on the drooping side. You would put a jack under the "A" pillar of the door, and jack until the rear top edge of the door is slightly above the opening. Then tighten down the pan bolts, release the jack, and see how the door sits in the opening. If may take several iterations of that procedure before you get it right. _________________ scrapyards are for quitters

You have to mess with tightening sequence. Maybe the beam point needs more tightening after loosening front pan ones. I use aluminum blocks instead of rubber, doesnt move. |

I actually put 2 brake hose (copper) washers between my bottom hinge where it bolts to the body and it worked perfectly. Door is right on now.
