240 miles round trip to the Madera Spring Fling on a motor that someone I’d never met before let me borrow just so I could make the show.

Ruby red ʻ63 Beetle, 1600 SP, completely stock otherwise. Totally ugly in and out but solid and reliable. Iʻve done a lot of drivetrain and chassis refurb since I bought it in 2013. 16 miles roundtrip nearly every day and itʻs never let me down. _________________ Aloha,

All stock '67 Bug.
Heidi became my daily driver when I retired April 1. I've logged nearly 3,000 miles with her since acquiring her last fall. Shes perfect for everything from our daily morning cruises along the beach to running various errands in and around town. We've even put her roof rack to good use on several ocassions hauling bagged mulch and sod from the local nursery |
I've now logged just over 5,000 miles. The only mishap I encountered was running out of fuel one Sunday am this past summer when the fuel gauge wasn't reading correctly. I love this little car!!! |
8/2017 UPDATE...
Nearly 2 years have passed, and I've logged just over 12,000 miles of driving pleasure with Heidi. Most of these miles have been covered during early morning cruises along the beach before the SOFL heat kicks in mid morning. She always starts with the first turn of the key, and runs and drives perfectly.
Average mpg is 28, and average oil useage is 1/2 qt/1,500 miles. In addition to the pleasure of driving, I also enjoy tinkering with her every 3,000 miles...oil changes, valve adjusting, brake adjusting, front end greasing, tire pressure adjusting. Looking forward to doing her next service which will include a complete tune up. |
5/14/18 UPDATE...
This little car is a gem! I drive her almost daily in/around town, averaging 125 miles/week of trouble free driving fun.
In the near future I’ll be dropping the engine to replace the transaxle mounts. And, as long as I’m in there...I’ll replace the clutch disc and cover, release bearing, and main oil seal.
I still love this little car! _________________ “Tinker Toy” 1967 Savannah Beige Beetle Sedan...........Mostly Original Survivor

Finished my 67 sunroof February 22nd and have put a bit over 3500 miles on it. I drive it to work nearly every day including some weeks of working out of town averaging 150 miles a day. Have been on one 600 mile round trip to the beach.
Fun to have a daily VW again, it's been 6 years since my 70 was a daily before it got turned into turbo street/strip car. _________________ My 1970 Beetle Thread

I've been daily driving mine in Vegas since I was 16 last year. Now she's getting a bigger motor over the summer to then become a really reliable daily
1966/67 (67 pan with no vin on body but early style headlights)
1600 dp for now
freeway flyer
worn tires is all I can say lol
Literally like 15 if I'm lucky, it was pretty bad
24,xxx maybe, if it read true
11/10
1835 or 2 liter (in progress), deep wide 5 smoothie, white interior, and so many more
I'll post again with pictures when she's partially done at the end of summer. |

My '57 Bug is the only car I've driven in the last 2 months. There doesn't seem to be a daily driver thread in the oval forum. _________________

I mostly drive my 67 Beetle, Opal, about every day. If not I'm on my bike, which is still air-cooled. I don't live far from school, and don't really go anywhere else. _________________ It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.
