Fuel Gauge and Sender late t2b 1973-79

Quick Test
Disconnect the ignition coil wire during testing.
Check fuses first. Test for power 12 volts at gauge.
Turn the ignition key on and ground (earth) the wire that is on the sender.
Gauge works, sender or sender ground connection is bad.
Gauge does not work, Gauge, vibrator (73-79) or wiring to gauge is bad.
Ground the brown wire at the gauge or vibrator (73-79).
Gauge works, wire to sender is bad.
Gauge does not work replace gauge, Note: (73-79) gauges with vibrator test for power on both sides of vibrator. Vibrator is good replace gauge. Vibrator is bad replace vibrator.
Don't forget to hook the coil back up! |
