I have been making great progress on resurrecting A 71 Bay Window that has need LOTS of help
Replaced main light switch, replaced blinker switch, put new fuses in block, wires look like they are in the right places, when flasher is installed in fuse block the flasher runs as if the blinker or emergency flasher switch is deployed. Changed the flasher to (original) and burned it out immediately. Installed heavy duty flasher and that burned the number 8 fuse that is the emergency flasher system, Looks like. All lights working as should be but no blinker. Any ideas where or what to look at ??

Cash - I wasn't clear on my first Q -- I changed the main light switch and will pull the Haz switch out and see if it is original.
Spike -- thanks I have the schematic and will dig further in on the wires soon |

Make sure the Hazard switch has not popped apart. If it did gently pop it back together and pup a plastic tie wrap around it.
Double check your wires on the Turn signal switch. All lights work, so I would not think it was this. But it is worth double checking your work.
The White wire on term. (+) on J2 and E3 is probably what is blowing fuse 8.
Make sure the wires on J2 are on the correct terminals.

Good luck

Hey Cash I looked at all wiring and it looks good except I have an extra lug on the existing switch that has a black and purple wire that I cannot find in any of the wiring diagrams. |

If you are blowing fuse 8.
The Red wire on fuse 8 goes over to terminal #30 on the Hazard switch.
So when you plug in the Flasher relay, it must be backfeeding into #30 on the hazard swtch somehow.
Make sure the Blue and Black/green/white wires, are on terminal 54Bl, on "H" the turn signal switch.
You have an extra lug on which switch?
Black/purple, H 54St>E3 54F
When you say the wires look like they are in the right place. Note: the wires on the new turn signal switches are different colors than the factory turn swtch.
Thnx to Telford
This is an aftermarket Bay turn signal switch with the connections labeled. Note the non-stock brake light wire color. Stock is black/purple.
Additional note: Te brown/white headlight dimmer wire labeled "under here" may be soldered to the bridge piece on either the inside or outside of the bridge. If replacing, solder the new wire to the tinned spot on the bridge, wherever it is on your switch.
Good luck

Well - I have been out of the area somewhat but have had a little time chasing the wiring and probably going to change the turn signal switch as the one I have doesn't seem to work correctly - are there any sources for a QUALITY switch |

Alrighty guys my 1971 bay window has been giving me fits but I have now gotten all the lights working as they should be. One problem left, when I activate the head lights my blinkers won’t work. Probably something simple, I have changed all the switches and chased all the wires to the correct positions as far as I can see. Any thoughts? |

Clean the bulb sockets and the bulb shells as well so they make good contact with each other (a little vaseline helps keep them clean), also remove and clean each ground wire from each fixture where it attaches to the body so it's making 100% contact. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I will surely try it, used to own a TR-6 and it seemed to be an annual ordeal.
Thanks for the thought |
