Hi Guys,
I did a very bad thing and bought some 34 ict knock offs. They run sweet! Engine runs cool, very little hesitation, everything is happy.
But! The carbs are set for sea level. I am at 3300 ft. Do I need to rejet? I am happy with it the way it is now, just don't want to unwittingly damage something as I know NOTHING about carbs.

Doesn't smell rich, fires right up and idles whether hot or cold. Goes like a BEAST compared to the leaking 30/31 I had on it.

What do I need if anything and what benefit will it give?

1679 dp motor w/ uh oh 9, 1.25:1 rockers, header and quiet pack muffler.

Thanks in advance!

What do your plugs look like? You might have to drop one size on your mains and idles to adjust for altitude

If you're uncomfortable messing with them, and you're getting the mileage you'd expect, and you're sure they're not lean at WOT, then let sleeping dogs lie.

I will pull them and post pics tomorrow. As far as letting sleeping dogs lie, I am good with that as long as there is no risk of long term damage due to ?

Rich is ok. Won't hurt anything but your mileage and the ozone layer. If it's puking gas out of the tailpipes, that's another story.

On the other hand, lean will melt your engine. I doubt your lean if the carbs were jetted for sea level and your at 3,000 ft.

But it's best to find out. A wideband is best but you can get an idea from your plugs. They should be tan. Black is rich, white is lean. (This is a generalization of course.)

My plugs look good, reddish brown on the electrode. Could probably run a touch leaner, but I am happy with what I got. I can post pics for a second opinion, but I am not sure if the crappy phone camera took a good shot or not, the lighting was suboptimal.

They are not as black as they look.

You cannot see the insulaters in any of those pics. And remember the color you are seeing is at the time the engine was running, meaning if you pulled into your driveway now you are looking at the idle mixture screws. If you are trying to read plugs for the main circut you have to have the engine loaded at rpm then shut off emediatly( my spelling is getting bad, maybe Tucker understands), then check. Old school drag racers check plugs at the end of the track or tow to pits to check.
