hello all,

I have made this combination with 2 switch relais + 2 blink relais to allow my 2 rear brake lights to act as blinkers as well. With this the brake light from one side should take over the blinking when that side is activated. you seen any flaws?

what I'm not sure on is the idiot light. I think I should be able to make it work with 2 diodes wired in like:

so it allows the single bulb to work?

Thanks!

Wow, that's a complicated way to achieve what these things do: https://www.amazon.ca/Curt-Manufacturing-58240-Lig...eigbgpve_e , but if you want to say you built it yourself it looks like it'll work.

You may have to reverse the direction of the diodes in the idiot light circuit, since it's powered when the key is on you need to use the resistance of the unlit signals between flashes to provide the ground. If you are using an independant idiot light it should work as shown.

Isn't it just easier to fit a six-wire indicator switch and wire it up like a '59? (Although that converter looks a lot cheaper).

Or is there an issue that would mean that doesn't work?

All the routes look correct. Where will it be mounted? You will have to come from the "out" side of the brakelight switch up into the dash and return down there to keep the factory wiring. Of course the current rating of all the relay/blinkers must be high enough.

the US indicator would indeed be easier... but hard to get over here. This was very cheap with only 4 basic relays:-)

you are right with the idiot light.. I need an isolated version with + and - connections since i would be sending the +12V to it like I draw it. I have used those before, just need to trace back where I got them from (think was from a porsche 356 shop?)

as in the bus:

(sorry for flipped pics).

for wiring I hooked the indicator up to the +12V and I use the original L and R blinker wires for the Brake/Blinker + the original lightwire for the rear lights leaving me with the original brake light wire redundant.

seems to work just fine:-)

Thanks!
Peter
