I NEED HELP!!!
I got a new tach board to match the correct one above.
I followed the instructions at:
http://www.vwrx.com/index.php?pg=tach
I can not get the tach to work using the function generator to calibrate.
I am lost. I have spent too much time on this.

Did you get it to work?
Try to find one from an VW Mk2 golf or Jetta.
Junkyard will be the best place. I put a VW Mk2
Tach and it works.
Good luck. |

Are you wanting a 6k or 7k tach? I have both, verified to work with a 1996 Subaru. |

NO. No workie.
I started with a 7K Mk2 tach........
My application is a 93 EJ22.
Using signal right from the ECU.
No diode mod.
I also tried the original one that the van was born with. No joy as to be expected for a 1990 tach.
The signal from the ECU is verified and there at the right pin.
I just want my dash back in........ _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

Why all the fuss and bother about a 7K tach? When my conversion was newly completed and I was still taking on rumpety-rumpety Monte Carlos at the lights, I spun it up to 6500RPM all the time with the stock tach. The rev limiter kicks in at 6750 or so anyway... _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

The fuss is about NOT having a tach that works at all!
While at it, I decided I want the 7K as it matches the Subaru better for me.
I have had the above depicted tach staring me in the face a LONG time now.
I have working one coming now.
I have had not tach for years and it is about time to tie up lose ends....... _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

Bought one of these from Mick works great. I'm using the stock tach gauge on my 87 w/ a 93 ej22. _________________ 1987 2WD Vanagon Tintop 93 ej22 |
