Well I bought a 64 roller last year to restore. due to rust I realized it wasn't worth saving. Decided to go custom and do a ratrod. Here are a few pictures of what she looks like now-ish.

8in chop, 5in body channel, 10in beam extension, 11in trans raise.
Rear wheels are spaced out 5inches each to clear the body.

If you guys want progress pictures from beginning to end I post a lot of junk on instagram: @seanmcnerdy

Hope you enjoy.

Heres a picture of what it looked like when I first picked it up. Heater channels, pans, doors and quarters were all rusted out. fenders were beat up, not really worth restoring IMO

Here are some build photos, somewhat in order. I started with the roof chop, which I had never done before.

My plan is to do a open top with a custom rag top sorta thing.

Next I pulled the body off to start restoring the pan.

Replaced the floor pans, installed a 10in front beam extension and restored the front beam.

Heres what the beam look like before I tackled it

and here is after with the extension. I used a single stage enamel to coat everything.

Next I decided to tackle the channel. I was originally going to do a 3in channel but due to rust I decided to do 5. Essentially I cut 5inches off the bottom of the car, then welded some new heater channels at this new location.

The front end I put on air shocks, but I wanted to lower the rear also. Instead of doing a tranny raise and then adjusting the spring plates I decided to cut the rear end off and weld it back in place to avoid camber issues. So i sliced it off and added in a bunch of gussets after raising it 11inches. I used some box tubing to reduce the torque on the center section and build a firewall. Later im going to go back in and box the gussets for a little extra strength.

Heres the dash shave and the new shifter tower I build with a simple baja bug box

Its been a while but here are a few updates on my volksrod. Finished all the body work and decided to paint her flat white. Used 20 rustoleum rattle cans. Really happy with it. I started working on the interior and made a carpet kit. Pedals also are going in as well as brake lines, hydraulic clutch and fuel lines. Ive been debating doing a new forum on here and doing start to finish build pictures and indepth descriptions of my work...Is this something people would be intested in?
