|
|
Hello All ,
been looking for ages for a 111-959-631 fog light switch with no luck so started thinking if I could use a spare Hazard switch which I have to operate the fog light relay . I've got a 111-953-235F . Looking at the connectors and running over them with a multimeter I've worked out that I have continuity between terminal 30 & the one marked with a + when the switch is pulled out . Any idea how I can get the bulb to illuminate when the switch is on ? . Can I go from the + to either the L or R or 49a through the bulb to 31 ( ground ) ? , there appears to be a circuit following this path with my multimeter . Will this work or am I going to set fire to my loom ?
Thanks
John Re

Try jumping "+" to 15 and grounding 31.

Hooking a little 9v battery to the loose spare switch I get :
+ to 30
- to 31
switch pulled out
getting 9V at "+"
jumping from "+" to 15 , no lamp
jumping "+" to "L" or "R" or 49a , lamp on
thoughts ?

Then you can use one of the three L,R or 49 to illuminate the light with no problems.

^ This. The rear fog relay switch works just great, unless you want the two-stage fog light switch. There used to be a guy (in Greece?) who sold nice reproduction fog light switch bezels, but I think he's done. _________________ John

No, no. Not the hazard switch. Use a defogger switch. Seriously, that is the way to go. There are threads about this. (Search fog lights.)
And if Jeff has "several" bezels, maybe you could talk him out of one, and you would be all set. _________________ John

BusOK in the Netherlands have original NOS fog light switch lenses for the T2 style switch. There is also a used switch up for sale on there:
https://busok.nl/catalogsearch/result/?q=mistlicht
You could also message Eleny (Topaz) in Greece as mentioned above, and see if she and her husband have any of the repro T2 fog lenses left. I see she last logged on in May:

Looks good, I wish I'd seen your post earlier....
Hella makes a fog light switch, seen here on my dash with an amber lens (also comes with red and green lens):

I ordered a replacement lens from ECS Tuning for a different look:

Thanks Hopkin , I'm way down the rabbit hole on this one but I'll forward your suggestions to a friend that may want to install a switch as well

The indicator is connected from 49a to 31 (with the switch pulled out).
Power to 30
Lamps to "+"
Tie 49a to "+"
Ground to 31
If you have high current fog lights, you might buffer the switch with a relay, as it was only designed to operate four stop lamp type bulbs. _________________ '71 panel, now with FI
