Hi
I have purchased some new early door seals for my oval. They come in three seperate pieces. How do you fit them into the square corners? Do you just butt them together or do you cut parts out fo make them look a better fit? I'm not sure. Is it possible to have a couple of pictures to show how they are supposed to fit
Thanks for your help |

Do you have this door seal from BBT?

I don't remember exactly but I thought the door seal was sold by the meter.
Anyway I was able to cut them at 45° at the square corners and left the door seals long enough so there is a tight fit in the corners.
If your door seals are long enough, you can do the same.

IF you haven't do a search on this, I know there is a thread with pictures.
To match the original, the corners are cut and not a 45 degree angles, you notch them so one overlaps the other. I just can't remember if the vertical piece overlaps the horizontal or vice versa |

This is the way they were cut from the factory. The notch is on the vertical strip with some overlap top and bottom. _________________ Oval 54 Light Beige, Oval 53 Metalblue. |

Thank you for the pictures.
Although my door seals look better in the corners, as VW did with the later types, I'm going to change this to make it look like it's original.

These are the original seals off my 54. The overlap is about 2 cm.
I forgot this overlap in the bottom corner. So in total there are 3 overlaps.
Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures.. _________________ Oval 54 Light Beige, Oval 53 Metalblue. |
