It's well established that the brake systems on a VW require the DIN/ISO bubble flare. What is less clear to me is what sort of flare is required for aftermarket parts. For example, I purchased a EMPI disk brake kit. There was no documentation with the brakes to indicate if they should use the "standard" or ISO flare. Looking at the calipers themselves, I really can't tell which would be appropriate.

I've also got a Wilwood proportioning vale which looks like it expects a double flare (at least according to this site). Again, no documentation to confirm my suspicions.

Is it safe to assume any VW brake parts will use ISO while non-VW will use the double flare? Or can it go either way? Thanks again.

Best solution would be to look deep into brake part and see what type of flair is appropriate, and inverted flare will have a cone shape at bottom of fitting (pointing out ) and bubble flare will have inverted taper at bottom of fitting (pointing in)...

Huh. I thought it was more complicated than this for some reason. Thanks for the confirmation. Less worry moving forward with the brake install Cool
