My son picked this up for a great price. Super cool story and hell of a nice guy selling it. We are still trying to ID the kit. I posted in the identify my kit thread. It's built on a '61 pan and has a '74, 1600cc engine.
Any other members in the area? It runs and drives great, lots we want to do to it but we'd like to see some other buggies in person to see how different ideas work.

Hi Blackshirt,
Nice looking buggy. There are several VW clubs listed on the samba that appear to be in Oregon (you will have to follow up to check on active status). Just go to the upper part of this page, click on Community, then Clubs, then choose your state and hit Search.
Forums and posts here on the samba can be extremely helpful, but there are times when there is no substitute to having a good set of qualified eyeballs and hands on your new purchase, real-time. Best of luck, and enjoy the open road. _________________ Gary David Holbrook

I'm guessing it is a Safari Trail.
I have the regular Safari body and don''t have the bumps on the hood.
The way the hood mounts to the body and the front of the hood being fairly flat tells me it is a Safari.
The dash area sets over the body instead of inside the body.
Here is my Safari Buggy.
At last years Burger Meet....
Come up to Seattle the 20th and 21st of July for Vintage Meet.
Friday night is the Burger Meet at BugerMaster in the U district.
It runs from probably noon til 8:00-9:00 in the evening.
Lots of VW's and a few buggy's usually show up too.
I plan on being there by 3:00 pm or so.
It looks to me like you have a solid start to a great buggy. Drive the wheels off of it....... _________________

Looks great! I’m in SE Portland, and got mine back on the road again recently.
