Click the circle next to #3 and click "Submit Vote" to have it counted in the poll results.

Can’t do multiples in this poll = fail.

I used to have three: screens in the tank and fuel pump, filter next to the transmission. Had to replace the fuel pump so now I’m down to just two.

Moderator says:
Since it seems like this person wanted to do a poll, let's stick with voting and voting comments and not get into another war over where a filter should be or if you need one since that is well covered in multiple threads.

Thank you.

I have two. One under the fuel tank, and one by the transmission.

I have a cheap plastic filter down low by transmission. My reasoning is twofold, if it did leak I’d be likely to see a spot under the car and it’s less likely to cause a fire. Then there’s the visual, in my opinion it look like shit crammed up next to the coil or perched above the distributor. The added weight may cause a vibration which helps to work the brass fittings loose. Really though whenever you are looking at an engine and you see jury rigged filters hanging, clamps installed upside down or backwards, plug wires run over the top of the generator etc. it makes you wonder about the rest of the car.

Someone here sells a nice filter holder which bolts to transmission to provide neat appearance and proper support, great idea . Very Happy sorry I exceeded twofold

No worries, I figured you only had add-on filters in mind. But it's easy for people to forget that VW provided screening of the fuel to keep contaminants out of the carb. They were just hidden really well.

I'll be a good sport and vote for "by the transmission." Wink

Any chance you have a link to that? I seriously need to move mine tbh, and that sounds far more interesting than me trying to rig up a bracket out of sheet metal that was going to look like ass

My filter is in the fuel pump. Wink plus the screen in the tank.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

(but on my buggy I run one next to the trans because there is no screen in the tank)

same here- two factory filters seams enough. If I'm working with a serviced tank I'll put a temporary one in line under the tank and remove it as soon as gas is clean- or before SB001 has a total meltdown hissyfit over it's location. Wink
