I have to make mine for the passenger side as well.

#metoo (read: "me too," not "pound me too") hahaha. I've made it in the past and like how simple it is. Down side is it is too simple haha. Fab ing your own parts, if you have the time/basic skills & equipment, is half the fun.

It was a nice change to be able to do something not crazy difficult that turned out well. Now I have to make the engine bay side panels, spare tire tray, battery tray, hinge carrier sections, etc. My friend Justin has given me a deadline of the end of today. It’s going to be a long day. Haha

I only check my messages when I’m on break. I m not suggesting that I will complete this task, but I will try to make something happen.
Break time is over. Back at it!
Thanks Justin 🎉

Thanks for checking in, Pinetops! A lot has happened to the bus, but we still have a ways to go.
I hope you’re out and about enjoying your bus!

I had to replace the rusted frame end on the drivers side. I had a small piece from the panel van to use. I straightened it out and cut it to fit. When I cut it, I cut to the rear bumper bolt hole, instead of the forward hole. Long story short, after I cut the section incorrectly, I welded it back together and re fit it. 😂

While I was back there I knocked the dent out of the tail light sheet metal

I also cut and fit the inner fender section after I welded it back together

I made the piece of sheet metal for the left side engine compartment. I took a piece off the rusted OG section with the rubber channel:

I also had to repair the lip on the fire wall where it connects:

Finished repairing the D Pillar section. I left one bullet hole in it, and still need to do a little straightening. Not to shabby, though:

Thanks npbusguy. I started to use a chisel and hammer to make the indents, then realized how handy the air chisel is once again.

Still trying to tie the back corner together. I repaired the seal channel:

I know it is a waste of time trying to use OG paint, but it is fun!
A little grinding, then on to the hinge carrier!

I cut most of the rot from the back of the bus. I am going to use the hinge carrier from the bus hanging on the wall. I had to extract the hinge bolts. They came right out Very Happy
I plan to get the hinge carrier in, then finish replacing the parcel tray.
I'm starting to feel like I'm turning a corner with the metal. I still need to fix the rear of the frame on the passenger side, plus the splash pan, plus....
I also bought the SWR and BG for the interior, and body touch up:

I needed a little more gray to finish the chassis and pedal pan. I am in good shape now!

Thanks crofty! I can't wait to open up this can of SWR. I had the paint shop color match the SWR to the inside of the deck lid, and the BGR was matched to the walk thru seat back. I've never had paint color matched before, so this should be interesting!

I had to open the paint. It looks good. I can’t wait to use it. Thanks again Mark!

I have been staring at my rotten missing parcel tray area and making a plan, all the while this panel section is sitting here. I thought this was too nice of a section to cut up, but it has everything I need without piecing it all toget:

I just need to do a little more fitting, then make the cutout for the spare tire opening, then I can weld it in.
